| In general,
one needs to go to school to become an EMT-Basic, before going to
Paramedic school. To go to an EMT-Basic program, you usually need to get
certification in CPR and Emergency Response from Red Cross or American
Heart Association. When you get your CPR card and Emergency Response
certification you can go on and take
an EMT-Basic
class which is provided by a number of colleges
and
universities.
After you take your class you will need to get certified from your state, this usually involves a written and practical test. After you get your certification you can look for a job as an EMT-Basic. This is important because you need to work 6 months before you can go on to take your Paramedic classes. Paramedic classes are usually offered by local community colleges, there is a good chance that the college where you went to get your EMT-Basic training will offer Paramedic classes as well. Note: Paramedic training is not easy, you will most likely need to take a number of Biology and Physiology classes as well as a number of Mobile Care classes. |
