L.E.T.S. Transportation will start a JARC run on Monday, March 15, 2010.
The run will start at 6:15 a.m. and run until 11:15 a.m. in the morning and
start back up at 2:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Once
established and depending on funding, weekend hours may be added in the
future. The L.E.T.S. JARC run will travel between the Village of
Fowlerville, City of Howell, the City of Brighton as far as U.S. 23 and
Grand River during these hours and will deviate off that route up to one
(1) mile. Reservations can be set up with our Dispatchers by calling
517.546.6600 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday. Times and fare will be quoted at that time. The Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) program was established to target and address the unique transportation challenges faced by welfare recipients and low-income persons seeking to obtain and maintain employment. Many new entry-level jobs are located in suburban areas, and low-income individuals have difficulty accessing transportation. In addition, many entry level-jobs require working later in the evening when L.E.T.S. conventional transit service is limited. Finally, many employment related-trips are complex and involve multiple destinations including reaching childcare facilities or other services. Eligible recipients: States and public bodies are eligible designated recipients. Eligible sub-recipients are private non-profit organizations, State or local governments, and operators of public transportation services including private operators of public transportation services. Eligible Activities: Capital planning and operating expenses for projects that transport low income individuals to and from jobs and activities related to employment, and for reverse commute projects. |
