Tyrone Township is located in the northeastern-most corner of Livingston County.  The township is closely affiliated with Genesee County because of its locale.  Historically, a major Indian trail called the Shiawassee Trail crossed through Tyrone Township as a connection between Detroit and the Shiawassee County community of Shiawasseetown.  Today, White Lake Road closely follows the path of this previous trail.  The estimated population of Tyrone Township for 2007 was 9,710 citizens.
